Michael MacLennan

Michael is director of The Music Institute, Dublin. He is also a sought after pianist, songwriter and teacher. He gained an honours degree from the Royal College of Music, London, in 2004 and has since released three acclaimed studio albums and performed extensively throughout the UK and Ireland. As a session musician he has shared the stage with some of Ireland's most established artists such as Gavin Glass, Wallis Bird, Lisa Hannigan, Declan O'Rourke, Mundy, Jerry Fish and Gavin James amongst others.

Michael has a passion for teaching and believes that each lesson should be tailored to the goals and interests of the individual whether they are to progress through the traditional grade system or learn how to play a favourite piece of music .

Lewis Dillon

Piano & Voice

Lewis is an accomplished pianist and classical singer, he holds an honours degree from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and is an active performer around Ireland and abroad. Lewis is a highly sought-after pianist and often performs in jazz and rock/pop gigs, as well as classical concerts, around Ireland

As a classical singer, Lewis has performed with Opera Theatre Company, Wide Open Opera, Northern Ireland Opera, and most recently, as the title role in Opera Britain’s Don Giovanni.

Lewis comes from a musically diverse background and always strives to nurture each individual student’s passion in his versatile approach to musical pedagogy.

Alison Reynolds

Alison is an accomplished and highly versatile musician who specialises in piano/keyboard (classical and pop) and saxophone (ska, soul and funk) tuition and performance. She attained BA(Hons) in Music, plus a HDip and MA in Music Technology from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

As a band member and session musician Alison has many years experience in live performance on stage, television and radio. She has performed with Michael Bublé, Nile Rogers and Chic, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Lisa Hannigan, Villagers, Paul Noonan (Bell X1), and Cathy Davey, to name but a few, on some of Ireland’s biggest stages, including The National Concert Hall, Vicar St, 3 Arena, Whelans, Electric Picnic and The Aviva Stadium.

As a third generation saxophonist she has been surrounded by music from an early age resulting in a natural and enthusiastic approach to her teaching. She enjoys establishing a rapport with her individual students, encouraging their ambitions and developing their abilities in a fun and focused manner.

Hannah Gallagher

Hannah is an accomplished musician and piano teacher.  She gained an honours degree from the University of Edinburgh and MA in Piano Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She studied under Graham Fitch and Richard Ormrod and has also played in many master classes for renowned pianists such as Polina Leschenko, Roy Howatt, Martin Jones, Llyr Williams, Benjamin Frith, and Olli Mustonen.

Since graduating, Hannah has enjoyed a career in teaching and performing at home and abroad. Most recently, she enjoyed a three year period in Palestine teaching at the Edward Said Conservatory of Music. She is member of a piano duo with Palestinian pianist and composer Dina Shilleh and features on Shilleh's recently released album Sudfa.

Hannah  enjoys developing a strong musical relationship with her students working closely with them on their technique, their understanding of the instrument and its repertoire and by doing so, helping each student find their own voice and means of expression.

Elis Czerniak

Piano, Guitar, Music Theory, Composition, Junior & Leaving Certificate syllabus

Elis is an experienced composer, performer and teacher, specialising in both piano and guitar. He holds a BA degree in music from Trinity College Dublin, a masters  from the Royal College of Music in London, and a PhD in composition obtained under the Home Hewson Scholarship at Trinity College. Being a multi-instrumentalist, he specialises in piano and guitar, performing extensively with his music groups, Alarmist and Halves, throughout Europe and North America. 

As a composer,  he has had his pieces played throughout Ireland and Europe by a variety of performers including RCM Symphony Orchestra, Kirkos Ensemble, Co-Orch Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, Tonnta Vocal Ensemble and RTÉ Con Tempo Quartet. 

Elis comes from an eclectic musical environment and uses this versatility in adapting to each individual's learning needs, focusing on what makes them enthusiastic about music. 


Gary Norman

Gary is an experienced Guitarist, who has been playing in bands since his early teenage years. He also has a passion for bass and the ukulele, and has played a wide variety of genres on all three instruments.

In 2011 Gary studied Sound Engineering in BCFE, where he earned a distinction in Music Technology for his original compositions. In 2015 he graduated from UCD with a first class honours degree in Music. As well as studying numerous advanced modules in Tonality and Musicianship while in University College Dublin, he also became interested in non western music and joined the National Concert Hall Gamelan Ensemble. With this group he has played at prestigious venues including The National Concert Hall and Leeds University. He has also played at events such as Electric Picnic.

Gary is a passionate and sought after teacher, who has taught at some of the most innovative and established schools in the country. He emphasises enjoyable and creative classes that help students to achieve and surpass their goals.


Scott Kohlmann

Scott is an accomplished guitarist. He holds a first class honours B.A in Jazz Performance from Newpark Music Centre, Dublin and a B.A in Performance from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston. During his time at Berklee, Scott won numerous awards including a Composition scholarship and a Performance scholarship. In 2004 he won the Martin Luther King artistry award for co-writing a song entitled "We Declare Peace". Scott believes that a teachers job is to not only show students how to learn but also to inspire students and ultimately share knowledge with them so that they can create, explore and enjoy music on their own.


Matthias Winkler

Matthias is a Dublin based guitarist. He started studying classical guitar at the age of 9 and in 2012 he began studying Popular Music at the prestigious HKDM in Freiburg. He later transferred to a Jazz degree in Dublin. In 2016 he graduated with an honours degree in Jazz Performance from Newpark Centre of Music. He plays with several renowned artists of the Dublin Jazz community and just recently started his own quartet called “Ätsch”.  Matthias is an accomplished teacher having gained experience teaching in Germany and Ireland.  His approach is versatile and not limited to any one specific style of music. He aims to spark the enthusiasm of his students so that they can reach their individual musical goals and achieve a connection with music.

Chris Cole

Chris studied Music at UCD (University College Dublin) and holds a Bachelor of Arts (1.1) Degree.  He then  completed a CPD Performance Diploma at BIMM (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) from which he graduated top of his year, and has also been through the DCU Jazz Programme (formerly Newpark Music Centre).

Chris has experience tutoring students individually and in groups; having taught contemporary music (pop, rock, blues, folk and jazz) and the formal curriculum through the grade system (Classical Guitar with Trinity Guildhall and Contemporary Guitar with Rockschool). As a teacher Chris places great importance on developing a creative atmosphere for his students and  melodic expression is fundamental to his teaching.  He likes to encourage students to develop their own 'voice' on a chosen instrument and to introduce them to the range of musical possibilities through looking at students favourite players. For Chris the ultimate goal as a teacher is  to ensure that the student enjoys the process of learning just as much as the result.

As a performer Chris has 10+ years of live experience which has seen him play with a variety of bands. From 2010 - 2013 he was the Resident Guitarist of the critically acclaimed Bray Gospel Choir and had the pleasure of performing in theatres and at events around the country. He has also accompanied established bands and performance groups in some of Ireland's most popular venues (The Olympia, National Concert Hall, The Button Factory, Monroes, Waterside Theatre, Crane Lane, Whelans, etc) ranging in styles from rock and blues to jazz, fusion, funk and soul. Currently, Chris performs around Dublin with a number of soul and jazz groups, as well as with his band Lowlight Gathering who won the Pure M "Best Newcomer 2017" award and were nominated for "Best Irish EP". Chris is also in the process of writing and recording a neo-soul album with Brazilian guitarist Johnny Batista, with an EP set for release later in the year.


Jen Tully

Jen graduated from a four year Commercial Modern Music degree in the prestigious and highly regarded BIMM Dublin. Through the vocal module, lead by Tine Verbeke, she developed her technique, versatility, discipline and performance skills.

Over the past 12 years Jen has gained extensive experience and knowledge, both live and in the studio, playing with various bands in venues such as Vicar Street, The Sugar Club, Whelans and The Button Factory, to name just a few.  Jen is also an artist in her own right and performs under the name Jen Jermane.

In addition to her live performances Jen is an accomplished and experienced singing teacher. She has worked with both adults and kids and held positions in a number of schools and youth centres. Jen is an ideal teacher for those interested in soul, blues, jazz or pop.

Filipa Quintino

Filipa Quintino graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance from Newpark Music Centre in 2014. She recently released her debut album of original material "With The Flow",  to critical acclaim both in Ireland and her native Portugal. With a passion for teaching and broad understanding of music, she tailors each lesson to the each individual student creating an environment where you feel safe to explore and develop your voice. Filipa also performs in various projects such as Swing’in Nova,  a mixture of Brazilian music and the American Songbook and is a member of Ríona Sally Hartman’s Band.

Sarah Troy

Voice, Piano, Choir, Teen Glee Club

Sarah Troy is a Mezzo Soprano who has recently graduated from Maynooth University with an Bachelor of Music Degree, majoring in vocal performance (BMus). She started training from a young age with a wide variety of styles, genres and techniques. She also has wide ranging performance experience including performances of works by Schubert to Plainchant, Popular music and Jazz. She has completed the Royal Irish Academy of Music exams in both classical voice, piano and musical theatre, performing in a variety of languages. Sarah has an avid interest in choral music, and she is currently a member of the Maynooth University Chamber Choir and has recently set up the Laois Youth Choir. The skills obtained through performance have assisted in Sarah's diversity as a singer and performer and she hopes that this will be of benefit to students of all ages.
